This is a rare
and NEAR MINT Leica IIID # 367190, one of the few (only 427) examples made in
Wetzlar in the years 1939-1945 (only one last example later made on 1947, with #
360010).
Luckely, it is incredibly clean, with almost NO signs of use ! The only noticeable
flaw
is a little chrome loss on the tiny, delicate selftimer
round "shield", and
I may say... it MUST be like this, it is one of the few fittings
that we find in most genuine Leica IIID cameras !
Some imperceptible signs are hardly visible on
rear chrome, also on the baseplate border,
surely due to the long contact with a Leitz case. The baseplate may be easily
exchanged with a similar one, but that one is the ORIGINAL
!
Look how the baseplate is clean. The described tiny signs are
only on the edge.
Also the inner side is very clean, with a not "disturbed" original blach paint.
I want to show you in the next three pictures
the minty top plate, pictured with a macro
lens...
I warranty, IT IS NOT A RESTORED CAMERA !
With serial # 367190, this is a late IIID camera, made in the year 1944.
Extremely clean the right top side, too, with microscopic "prick points" on the advancing knob's chrome.
Attentively seen and pictured
from the front side, the selftimer actuating lever is
slightly
leaning at (our) right side, AS IT MUST BE on a genuine Leica
IIID !
I LOVE the Leica
IIID, that is a real collectible, "rare by
chance", as I named all the Leicas
which produced amount is low... without a Wetzlar's choice
for that ! :-)
This is the last picture. I hope that this description seem
to you exaustive... Let me add that
the shutter speeds seem to me reliable,
the RED curtains are very clean, and
even the delicate, original vulkanite is
complete, and never broken !
A QUEEN FOR your serious LEICA COLLECTION...
